From paddock to port: biosecurity training for everyone

10 Feb 2026

Whether you are a grower in regional Queensland, a producer in Victoria, a freight operator crossing state borders or simply an Australian committed to protecting our food supply, the National Biosecurity Training Hub provides a single place to access the training you need.

Launched in 2023, the Hub brings together courses tailored to a wide range of roles, regions and industries. It includes training for logistics and supply chain staff, producers, veterinarians, agronomists and biosecurity professionals.

Developed by Plant Health Australia (PHA) in collaboration with the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) Queensland Department of Primary Industries (QDPI), Animal Health Australia (AHA), NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD), and Agriculture Victoria, the Hub makes biosecurity training easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to act on.

The Hub was created to streamline access to trusted, high quality biosecurity skills and knowledge. Training is free and open to everyone, and its continued growth relies on contributions from providers across Australia. By listing their courses, organisations help ensure producers, supply chain workers and professionals can readily access the skills they need to detect, prevent and respond to biosecurity risks.

Today, the Hub contains close to 80 verified courses from 20 providers across plant, animal and aquatic sectors. This centralised library reduces duplication, improves access and allows users to find suitable training quickly.

Since launch, almost 50,000 users have visited the platform, generating more than 95,000 views. An online submission feature makes it easy for registered training organisations (RTOs), government agencies, and private providers to expand the Hub’s reach and value.

The Hub continues to grow with new tools and materials. The Youth Biosecurity Training Hub, launched in 2025, offers curriculum aligned resources and an eLearning course that supports early awareness of biosecurity. By building knowledge early, the Hub helps future growers, agronomists and policymakers understand their role in protecting Australia’s plant industries.

Visit the National Biosecurity Training Hub to explore courses or contribute new content and help strengthen Australia’s biosecurity capability.
