In the light of recent #IWD2025, we were excited to spotlight our CEO, Dr Samantha Allan!

Sam has been a powerhouse in the agriculture space since her first foray into the sector at 17 as a jillaroo in western Queensland. Since then, Sam has worked in private veterinary practice in New South Wales and South Yorkshire, England, before moving into government veterinary roles for over 14 years, including the role of Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer. She has been working in the national emergency management space at AHA for seven years.

On her experience as a woman in the sector, Sam said:

• it is important to be confident in your ability and show your initiative by stepping up and having a go.
• Support others in creating a respectful workplace and always call out unprofessional behaviour if you encounter it.
• Find a mentor – someone you look up to and trust, and who has time to catch up with you regularly. They can provide advice and encouragement as well as introduce you to their networks
