I am thrilled to be appointed as the new CEO for Animal Health Australia (AHA) and am looking forward to working with you all, as we deliver positive outcomes to improve Australia’s emergency animal disease preparedness and our biosecurity system.
As I said in the AHA media statement, the biosecurity space has never faced more challenges, with the current avian influenza outbreak an example of the increased biosecurity threats we face. However, it also shows the power of collaboration – with our industry and government members working together to manage the outbreak effectively and promptly.
With the highly skilled team at AHA and the depth of knowledge and insights from our members, I’m looking forward to leading AHA into this new period, building on our mission to deliver solutions that enhance, strengthen and protect animal health and the biosecurity system.
As I start to consider my priorities as the CEO, including the development of the next iteration of our Strategic Plan, I wanted to remind you of two major events coming up where your attendance would be welcome.
Firstly the 3rd Australian Biosecurity Symposium is now under six weeks away and I am delighted to see several of our member organisations will be in attendance. Please do consider coming along to this fantastic event which will be discussing all elements across the full biosecurity spectrum – Registration – Biosecurity Symposium (biosym.com.au)
I am also excited to let you know registrations are now open for our September Member Engagement Week and you can register via this link we have more information on the schedule of the week in our member update blog.
Finally, I wanted to acknowledge that AHA is currently seeking three experienced non-executive directors and you are welcome to express your interest via this link.
Thanks,
Dr Samantha Allan
