The AUSVETPLAN Technical Review Group (TRG) met face-to-face in Glenelg, South Australia, from 18-20 February.
The AUSVETPLAN response strategies foot-and-mouth disease, African swine fever, avian influenza and lumpy skin disease, the operational manuals destruction of animals and disposal, as well as the guidance document declared areas and allocation of premises classifications in an emergency animal disease response continue to make their way through the approvals process.
There are four active AUSVETPLAN writing groups, at varying stages of the review process, updating the response strategies classical swine fever, peste des petits ruminants, and sheep and goat pox, as well as the operational manual: livestock welfare management.
AHA acknowledges the work and commitment of all those involved in writing and reviewing these AUSVETPLAN manuals.
A proposed AUSVETPLAN workplan for 2025-26 has now been developed and will be progressed to Industry Forum and Animal Health Committee for approval. One of the key activities, as agreed to at the Strategic Planning Meeting for 2025-2030 (held in November 2024), is for the development of simplified principles-based movement controls to be included in an update of the AUSVETPLAN Guidance document: Movement controls.
